About
Darian Lindle (she/her) is a playwright, theatre director, and actor living in Seattle, WA. Her plays grapple with subjects ranging from the royal court in 11th century Japan to the ramifications of time travel on the presidency of Abraham Lincoln.
In July 2017, Lindle received The Mazen Award from 14/48: The World's Quickest Theatre Festival! The Mazen is awarded to veteran participants of 14/48 who embody the spirit of community and risk-taking inherent in their process.
Playwriting
- The Westing Game, a murder-mystery adaptation of the young adult novel by Ellen Raskin, was selected to be a part of the Fringe/ACT reading performance series in 2003 and was fully produced by Prime Stage Theatre in Pittsburgh in 2009. It was published by Dramatic Publishing in 2010 and has since received 70+ productions around the country.
- The Secret and Impossible League of the NoöSphere (SILON) was commissioned as a historical speculative-fiction series by LG! Theater in 2010.
- Part one, SILON in the Baltimore Plot was produced by Live Girls! In 2017 and received a Gregory nomination for Outstanding New Play and a Gypsy Rose Lee nomination for Excellence in Local Playwriting.
- During the pandemic, Lindle re-wrote part one as a six-part radio drama starring the original cast co-produced by LG! Theater and Pendant Productions will be released as a serial podcast in 2022.
- Lindle also completed a draft of part two, SILON in The White City during the pandemic, receiving two workshops in 2020 and 2021.
- The City of Crooked Teeth, a full-length fantasia with puppets, was commissioned by the iDiOm Theatre in Bellingham, WA, and produced in 2009.
- Jackson, a commission for Live Girls! Theater inspired by the song by June Carter Cash was produced in 2008.
- Genji/Muraski follows the journey of Murasaki Shikibu as she creates The Tale of Genji, the first physiological novel. Genji/Muraski has been read as part of several festivals including those for Kick-Ass Women Playwrights (2005) and Live Girls! The Bakery Series (2006). An audio adaptation, “Genji/Muraski,” was produced by Pendant Productions in the second episode of “Seminar” in 2007.
- Lindle’s short plays include: Never Kill a Caterwauling Crane God (and Other Life Lessons), Vampyre, Pavel Chekov's The Cherry Orchard By Pavel Chekov, Great Expectations! A Showchoir Musical, The China Secret, #duranadam, Cut Your Teeth, Long Playing Record, Action Figures Sold Separately, Alone/Not Lonely (another LG! commission) and Blind Tiger, a commission for Cafe Nordo/14/48.

Darian is currently the president of the board at Rain City Projects, a playwright support organization she has worked with since 2002. She is also a board member at LG! Theater and a member of the Dramatists Guild and Seattle Theatre Leaders.
Regionally, she has worked with the Seattle Rep, A Contemporary Theatre (ACT), Book-It Repertory Theatre, VIA, Rain City Projects, Steeplechase Productions, City3, Fringe/ACT, the Seattle Fringe Festival, the Mae West Fest, Kick-Ass Women Playwrights, LG!, Balagan Theatre, Poisonous Toy, Millennium Ten, Washington Ensemble Theatre (WET), 14/48 Projects, Cornish College of the Arts, and Seattle Theatre Leaders (STL).
She is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Theatre, French, and Film Studies and interned with Cahiers du Cinéma in Paris, the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, and the Seattle Repertory Theatre. In 2004, Lindle married the brilliant sound artist, Nick Notis, and together they are raising twins.
